ABOUT TRILJ
In the green oasis of the Dalmatian Hinterland, protected by a mild climate and located only 30 km from Split and 45 km from Makarska Riviera, lies a small, picturesque town by the Cetina river. At one time, this area had the most important bridge crossing in Dalmatia, and today it constitutes an important intersection of roads that connect the North and the South of the country. It is a real heaven for nature lovers, excursionists and adventurers. For centuries now, the natural beauty found here remained almost untouched, its historical legacy was mysterious and unexplored, and on some village properties it seems as if time has stopped.
Due to a specific geographic position of Trilj, which is located in a valley, and only about thirty kilometres remote from the sea, the Town’s temperate continental climate overlaps with sub-Mediterranean climate. Hot and dry summer days are relieved by cool nights, owing to the nearby mountain ranges and swimming into the river of Cetina that flows accross the town.
Alongside the town of Sinj, Trilj is the most important gastronomic centre of the Cetina region. The rich gastronomic heritage of Trilj is manifested primarily in the number of original dishes made according to recipes guarded in households and passed from generation to generation. What gives this gastronomy its exceptional value is its quality and variety of the local foods.
Walk along the paths of our childhood to the crystal clear Cetina River, relax with the song of birds and the untouched nature and enjoy in our rich gastronomic heritage.
